Choosing the Right Honda Hybrid for You
Thursday, August 27th, 2009 at 1:22 pm

2010-honda-insight-pic-15722Fuel economy has become pretty high on the list of demands for new car buyers.  However, for some, that need forces them to neglect vehicles that do not meet their criteria for fuel consumption and environmental friendliness when shopping for a new ride.  For those discerning individuals with a decidedly green bent, Honda offers quite a few options.  However, you’ll need to know a bit more about the line of Honda hybrid vehicles before you purchase one.  What’s on the lot?

Accord Hybrid – The big brother of the Civic has enjoyed a hybrid option for a number of years now.  The Accord hybrid gives drivers the power of the standard Accord (in a V6, no less), with all the benefits that come along with hybrid technology.  While the hybrid Accord certainly costs a bit more than its conventional brethren, you will find that the price is more than offset by the fuel savings.

Civic Hybrid – The Civic has long been a mainstay of Honda’s lineup around the world.  Small, economic, fun and peppy, the Civic now offers a hybrid option, as well.  While the conventional Civic has always enjoyed decent fuel economy, the hybrid model kicks this up quite a bit. Of course, you won’t have quite as much interior room with the Civic as with the Accord, but you’ll enjoy better overall fuel savings, simply due to the smaller size of the engine and the lessened weight of the vehicle.

The Insight – When Honda’s Insight first hit the roads several years ago, it made decent waves.  However, the newly redesigned Insight is set to change the way you look at hybrid vehicles.  With its unique Eco Assist system, regenerative braking properties, streamlined body and enhanced hybrid drivetrain, the Insight is a tremendous option for anyone who demands the very best in fuel consumption, as well as having a bit of style and panache.  In fact, the Insight is the very first hybrid to become a “best seller” in Japan – how will the renewed option rank in the rest of the world?

Still to Come – the Fit Hybrid and the CR-Z

Debuting in 2010, Honda’s set to bring two more hybrid cars to the market.  The Fit is Honda’s smallest and lightest vehicle for sale in the Western world.  The Fit hybrid will bring even more fuel savings than those found with the Civic hybrid, due to its reduced size and weight.  The CR-Z is a sporty hybrid that gives drivers an edge in both the looks and the fuel savings departments.  In fact, if you’ve been holding off buying that hybrid just because you don’t see an option you find attractive, the CR-Z will be your dream car.

You’ll find that Honda’s dedication to fuel savings and benefiting the environment doesn’t only show in their range of hybrids.  Even their conventional vehicles are available in ULEV ratings, and provide dramatically reduced emissions and fuel consumption, so even those who want a conventional vehicle can still do their part for the environment.
