On April 28th, 2009 Honda Canada celebrated the creation of the 5 millionth vehicle made in Canada at its vehicle manufacturing facility in Alliston, Ontario. This marks a huge milestone in the Honda Canada history since it began 23 years ago. The 5 millionth vehicle was a 2009 Honda Civic sedan, one of the most popular Honda vehicles today. The civic was presented by Manabu Nishimae, the Honda President and CEO, to Premier Dalton McGuinty. He then presented the car to Pamela Fuselli, the executive director of Safe Kids Canada, and organization committed to raise awareness and conduct research to prevent accidental injuries amongst children.
The Honda Manufacturing plant in Alliston was one of the first of three plants built in 1986 in Canada. Since then, it has created a number of jobs for the residents of Ontario as well as become a landmark in the auto industry, by striving to create vehicles that are environmentally friendly and based on consumer needs. Honda also made a donation to Safe Kids Canada, in efforts to promote the value they have in creating awareness for safety and preventing situations that are accidental.
Pamela Fuselli commented on the impact that Honda has on the organization, that “donations like this enable Safe Kids Canada to provide Canadians with practical and reliable solutions to prevent injuries so that our children can be active, healthy, and safe.”
“Honda continues to invest its profits back into Canada as we strive to be a company that Canadians will want to exist.” Said Honda CEO Manabu Nishimae, enhancing the impact Canada has had on Honda Global.
